World Peace

Travis had an opportunity to perform at Ignite Fest this past Saturday. Oh, let me fill you in with some background information, in case you didn’t know. On top of being Superman, Travis is also a Christian Hip Hop Artist, ministering to the youth through his music. He’s able to create music that glorifies God…how cool is that?

One of my favorite songs that he performed at Ignite Fest is called “World Peace“.

Verse 1:

Thinking about the world ways
12 when the plane hit the world trade
Thinking about the homies out in Chi-town
Why all the brothers getting shot down
Oh Lord, ask your homie can you put the Glock down
Instead of walking around the world with your hat down
Where would we be if Jesus sat down
Where would be if Martin Luther would’ve backed down
Am I making sense
Rolling down your tints, yeah
Rocket launchers shooting for defense
All up in the projects people robbing for some 10’s
While there’s soldiers getting shot up
Dodging bullets losing limbs, that’s the mess that we in
Man that’s the mess that we in
Operating in the flesh when we in
But it’s crazy thinking ’bout how bless we done been
But I still see

Chorus:

World peace, yeah
I wanna see a world free, yeah
I’m ready to see world peace, yeah
I want to see a world free cause we’re worthy
Hosanna, oh, got blessings from Hosanna
Oh, got blessings from Hosanna
Oh, got blessings from Hosanna, Hosanna

Verse 2:

Still pray for Charleston
Pray for the victims out in Boston

Pray that one day you meet the Father
I know it’s getting harder but trials make you stronger
Just lay it on that altar
Hard knowing in Africa people starving
Hard knowing in Flint they ain’t got no water
It’s hard knowing mothers is putting babies in coffins
And in my own city, the place is covered in darkness
Enemy plotting who will stick the needle to farthest
Enemy plotting looking for the wounds in the bottom
Enemy plotting on the lookout for all the lost ones
We’re going to bring them from hostage
We gon’ bring them from bondage
So they can accomplish, through God through the garbage
Souls so reap for harvest
Shed light through the knowledge
Showing through Him it’s possible
We gon’ show them the gospel

Chorus:

World peace, yeah
I wanna see a world free, yeah
I’m ready to see world peace, yeah
I want to see a world free cause we’re worthy
Hosanna, oh, got blessings from Hosanna
Oh, got blessings from Hosanna
Oh, got blessings from Hosanna, Hosanna

For some reason, this song just resonated so much with me these past couple of days. As I sat there and listened to every single word, I was baffled because he wrote this song over a year ago and it’s still relevant. Perhaps it is because today is September 11. It’s been 16 years since that gloomy morning. I was 13 years old and I remember the feeling that I felt when my teacher turned on the TV and I was able to witness the second plane flying through the World Trade Center. I cannot pretend that I fully understood the magnitude of what was happening at that very moment, but I do remember praying for everyone involved.

Now fast forward to today, the year is 2017 and nothing much has changed since that gloomy day in 2001. Terroristic activity is still happening in our country on a daily basis. People are dying every single day. At Ignite Fest, Travis gave a scripture prior to performing ‘World Peace’ and it was spot on. He stated that “we are called to be the light of the world and that a town on a hill cannot be hidden. Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. In the same way, we need to let our light shine before others, that they may see our good deeds and glorify our Father in Heaven (Matthew 5:14-16).

Our Pastor always says, “It’s either a God problem or a ME problem and since God ain’t got no problems, we already know it’s a ME problem”. I pray that our world may find peace. I pray that we can establish God’s Kingdom here on Earth. I pray that we can walk in peace and there would be no violence, drugs, or anything that could take us down the wrong path. There are too many lost souls out there and if only they could experience God’s love for just a millisecond, they too, would understand that there is POWER in the name of Jesus.

Let’s not ever forget what happened on 91101. Let’s not forget what is happening in our world right now. Let’s continue to teach our children right from wrong. As Mahatma Ghandi so eloquently stated, “Be the Change you wish to see in the World,” we HAVE to be let our light shine.

Back to Raising. XOXO.
